Pre-Purchase Condition and Valuation Survey: It is strongly advised that a prospective buyer get a survey when purchasing a new or used vessel. This service is a comprehensive yet non-destructive review of the vessel's condition and systems. Pre-purchase surveys cover the hull integrity, propulsion system, fuel systems, electronic and electrical systems, navigation equipment, various on-board equipment and systems. A pre-purchase survey also observes the general appearance and overall maintenance levels of the vessel in or out of the water, as a sea-trial should be performed to confirm basic performance. The survey report follows the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS®) recommended format for the reporting of findings. The sections of the report normally include:

Insurability Condition and Valuation SurveysThis service is performed at the request of the owner for presentation to an insurer and/or lending institution. It follows the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS®) recommended report format shown above. The insurance company needs information for assessing the level of risk, structural integrity, safety and is it fit for its intended use. They will also want to know the vessel's Market Value.
Vessel AppraisalThis service is to gather enough information to determine the Market Value of the vessel. Analyses, opinions and conclusions are developed, and reports are prepared, in conformity with the Uniform Standards of Professional Property Appraisal Practice (USPAP). Standards 7 and 8 are referenced for the establishment of requirements for the development and communication of a personal property appraisal. The content and intent of the appraisal report is usually of the Self-Contained Appraisal Report format as defined by USPAP Standard 8. Valuation is usually determined by the Sales Comparison Approach. Unless specified by the requesting agency, a Vessel Appraisal is not enough to fulfill the requirements for financing or insurance.
Damage and Claim Surveys/Consulting Whether the client is the insurance company or the insured/vessel owner, this service is a report of the nature, cause and extent of damage to a yacht or small craft. This inspection is to assess the extent of damage, assess or monitor repairs, confirm local service rates and review estimates, and if requested and discernable, a probable cause. Consulting services are performed on a case by case basis with the most efficient and timely response to our client’s needs.
